One of my resolutions for 2020 was to try new things and, let me tell ya, the food industry is making that really easy for me. The latest brand to start off the decade with new products and flavors is none other than Lay's; they'll be releasing three brand new kinds of chips this month.

All three chips are totally different not only in flavor, but also in texture and crunch. The new products are Cheddar Jalapeño, Poppables Sea Salt & Vinegar, and Kettle Cooked Flamin’ Hot. Asking me which one of these is likely to be my favorite is like asking a mother to choose her favorite child. They all sound that good.

I think the most notable part of these new chips is that they all combine the classic with the unconventional. The Cheddar Jalapeño flavor is in conjunction with the traditional Lay's plain potato chips we all know and love. Ya know, the ones that come in the bright yellow bag! The familiar texture with a new cheesy, semi-spicy flavor definitely makes it an easy transition from your normal chip preference.

The salt and vinegar-flavored Poppables give my personal favorite flavor a bit of a revamp. Poppable Lay's chips are lighter and airier, letting you focus on the taste of the salt and vinegar without cutting your tongue like the traditional salt and vinegar chips do after eating, uh, an entire bag.

And, oh boy, these Kettle Cooked Flamin' Hot snacks! These are definitely the new chip I'm most curious about because I wonder how they will taste in comparison to Flamin' Hot Cheetos or other spicy chips like Takis. I'd think that the kettle-cooked potato chip base with the Flamin' Hot topping would make it extra crunchy, as well as easier to really enjoy the spice.

There are enough variations in these three new flavors for everybody to be able to choose one they like the best. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to find out which we prefer since they're hitting shelves sometime this month.
