Lay's has a history of releasing out-there potato chip flavors, like Crispy Taco and Southern Gravy & Biscuits, as part of their Do Us a Flavor contest. Now the company is upping the ante with Lay's Tastes of America.
The chip line, which has eight different flavors, is inspired by regional specialties from across the United States. And according to an announcement from Lay's, this is the largest number of new flavors the brand has ever introduced at once. Here's what you can expect:
Inspired by the flavors of the Gulf Coast, these chips contain garlic, paprika, onion, and oregano.
Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice
Inspired by crab shacks along the Mid-Atlantic, these chips feature crab spice seasoning.
Chile Con Queso
Inspired by the Tex-Mex flavors of the Southwest U.S., these chips include cheddar queso and a dash of paprika.
Deep Dish Pizza
Inspired by a pizza recipe made famous by Chicago chain Giordano's, these chips feature Parmesan and Romano cheese.
Fried Pickles With Ranch
Another Midwest favorite, these chips are inspired by the fried pickles at state fairs and feature ranch and sour cream flavors.
New England Lobster Roll
Inspired by the lobster shacks of the Northeast, you'll feel like you're in Boston eating fresh lobster on a buttered roll. These chips contain sour cream, butter, onion powder, and bell pepper, among other flavors.
Southerners know all about that pimento cheese. These chips feature sharp cheddar and a hint of cayenne pepper.
Thai Sweet Chili
Inspired by the food trucks that are massively popular across the Pacific Northwest, these chips taste like Thai sweet chili sauce with a hint of paprika.
Starting on July 30, each of the eight flavors will be available in their home markets until September 23. If you're itching for a taste of another region's chips, you can order a bag or a variety pack on the Lay's website. You can also order a customized hat or t-shirt.
And according to People, Lay's is also bringing back some old favorites like Wavy West Coast Truffle Fries, Ketchup, and Wavy Fried Green Tomato ― but only for a limited time.
