'Law and Order: SVU' Fans Are Throwing Fire Emojis at Mariska Hargitay’s Dramatic New Look

After a quarter of a century on television, Law and Order: SVU fans have seen Mariska Hargitay try out many different looks. But a new season means a change in personal style, which the actress just pulled off in a new Instagram.

In a photo recently uploaded on the her account, Mariska gave folks a glimpse at her recent hair transformation ahead of season 25. Posting a selfie with her hairstylist Chris McMillan, she showed off a 1970s-inspired cut, with her freshly layered brunette tresses cropped to just above her shoulders. What's more, new curtain bangs appeared to be highlighted just a few shades lighter than the rest of her hair. As for why she made the change, Mariska explained she did it on a whim.

"Woke up in a bit of a funky mood and then this one came over and had me laughing in five minutes," she wrote on June 4. "And then gave me the coolest haircut ever!"

Known for keeping relatively the same appearance while filming her hit NBC drama, Mariska's reveal caused everyone to immediately start showering her with compliments in the comments section.

"Big '70s vibes for sure 🔥🔥🔥," one person wrote. "I LOVE EVERY HAIRSTYLE, STUNNING!!!✨✨✨," a different follower raved. "Absolutely beautiful as usual!!! 💛💛💛💛💛," another added.

Luckily, it's only the beginning of warmer weather and Mariska can wear her new hairdo out to whatever event she chooses. Ahead of the switch up though, she donned her usual Olivia Benson locks when she stepped out for a date night with husband Peter Hermann at the 2023 Whitney Gala. A few days later, she also embraced her classic look while receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at John Jay College's 50th Anniversary Gala at the end of May.

But in a twist, Mariska is now ready to embrace the summer weather with both a shorter and lighter haircut. On June 8, she updated folks with a few more pictures revealing that she stopped by Chris' salon and became a blonder shade.
