Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler

Somebody please get Elliot Stabler off the bubble! While Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU were both renewed by NBC on March 21, the third (and arguably best) franchise installment will have to wait to find out if there's a Season 5 in store.

Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is much more serialized than the other two procedurals, follows Detective Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and a task force of cops who specialize in taking down organized crime. They tackle mafia bosses and human traffic rings and dirty cops with the help of some undercover work and a whole lot of muscle. The task force was originally launched after the death of Stabler's wife, Kathy. She was killed by a car bomb in Season 22 of Law & Order: SVU, and that sent Stabler on a quest for revenge and/or justice. He got it when sociopathic businessman Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) and his estranged wife Angela (Tamara Taylor) drove off a cliff. Of course, Richard's body was never recovered and he was also never convicted of Kathy's murder, but Stabler has still managed to go on with his life.

In Season 4, Stabler got himself suspended and became embroiled in the hunt for a serial killer outside his jurisdiction, and now his work appears to be getting close to home once again, because his younger brother, Joe Jr. (Michael Trotter) is up to no good.

So what comes next? Here's what we know about the future of Organized Crime, whether it will get renewed for Season 5 and more.

Is there going to be a Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5?

TBD. NBC renewed both Law & Order and SVU for the 2024-2025 season, as well as fellow Dick Wolf shows Chicago PD, Chicago Med and Chicago Fire. The renewal announcement included a note that Organized Crime's fate is "still in discussion."

What has the cast said about Law & Order: Organized Crime being renewed for Season 5?

Both Meloni and Pruitt have been active on Twitter/X and interacting with fans who made #RenewOrganizedCrime trend, but they also seem optimistic. Pruitt encouraged fans to continue to keep being vocal. "You have to holla at @nbc & @WolfEnt," she tweeted.

"Do it loud & often. And make sure to turn in on 4/11 and the rest of this season."

"We are the perfect mix of comedy, drama, action and bad-ssery," she continued. "Not to mention we are some SEXY MF's. Our writers are killing it. Our crew is next level. Clearly we are the "Underdogs" but who doesn't love a good underdog story?"

She reposted another fan with a few heart emojis and said, "looking forward to doing it again!"
