Christopher Meloni’s imposing frame lends an intense, looming physicality to his television roles, whether he’s playing the sociopathic inmate Chris Keller in HBO’s gritty prison drama Oz, or upstanding hero detective Elliot Stabler in the Dick Wolf procedural Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

The actor's latest role is the same one we're all playing: that of a person who is self-isolating in order to minimize the risk of spreading coronavirus. And like all of us, he's getting bored (and perhaps a little frisky) from being cooped up, and is passing the time by showing off his muscular physique on Twitter.

On Monday, Meloni donned a kilt (and little else) to take a thirst trap, then added a shirt and shades to ask fans which look they liked better. "Quarantine Kilt," he wrote. "With glasses or without?"

Meloni's defined pecs and abs and jacked arms are all visible in the photos, and the responses were thirsty, to say the least. After all, Twitter is basically the SVU of thirst, populated by detectives who can sniff out a shirtless selfie the way Stabler and Benson track down bad guys.

Meloni posted the photos in response to @TeamHotchniss, who requested a selfie from the actor "to take the edge off" while they languished in quarantine. (It was undoubtedly received with glasses just as rose-tinted as the ones Meloni wears in the second image.)

They're the kinds of pictures where, the longer you look, the more fascinating details you see. Like that dangling chain earring, which resembles something a Bajoran might wear on Star Trek. The jaunty ruffle on the front of his tunic. Those glasses, which are nothing if not A Choice. There are more questions here that demand to be answered than in your typical episode of Law & Order. We need Detective Stabler on the case, pronto.
