Any avid fans of The Hills will remember the momentous occasion that was Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s wedding, which also acted as the final time that we saw Lauren Conrad on the MTV show.

However, as calm and collected as it seemed (well, not for us, who cried our eyes out through the whole episode), Lauren has now claimed that she was ‘locked in the basement’ during the nuptials, despite needing to leave for an event with then-boyfriend Kyle Howard.

As the show celebrates ten years since its debut in 2006, Lauren, who is now married to William Tell, told Us Weekly: “The power went out, the generator went out and I said, ‘I need to leave!’

“And [producers] wouldn’t let me leave! They literally locked me in the basement with two security guards and wouldn’t let me leave! And I was like, 'You can’t keep me here!’ I was throwing a fit!”

The ceremony was filmed two hours later, with Lauren quickly making her exit, explaining: “At that point, this wasn’t really my life anymore, and I left out the [church’s] side door, so that’s why in the final scene, I’m not leaving with everyone else — I’m taking a side exit out because I had a car waiting, and I needed to leave!”

Producer Adam DiVello denies her claims, saying that while she ‘might have felt locked in’, she wasn’t.

Heidi herself recently spilled some of her secrets from the series and revealed the last time she spoke to her former BFF Lauren, telling Buzzfeed: “The last time I spoke to Lauren was a few years ago. Like two or so. We kind of were talking a little and then we both were kind of like, ‘We’re not friends’. It’s kind of awkward.

“But I do really love Lauren for everything that she has done for me and I do have a place in my heart for her. So I am thankful for everything that she’s done and I hope she has a great life.”
