If you shop The Laundress' collection of cleaning supplies, you'll want to check your stock. The company announced the recall of 8 million of its laundry detergents, fabric conditioners, and other household cleaning products on December 1, due to bacteria exposure risks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the contaminated products could contain Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes, and several other species of Pseudomonas, which are environmental organisms found mainly in soil and water, CNN reports.

Recalled products were manufactured between January 2021 and September 2022. The full list of cleaners in the recall include products with lot codes that begin with the letter F and the last four digits are numbered 9354 or less, products with lot codes that begin with the letter H and the last four digits are numbered 2262 or less, and products with lot codes that begin with the letter T and the last four digits are numbered 5264 or less.

Bacteria found in the products can enter the body through the eyes, breaks in skin, or through inhaling. Those with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria in the products are most at risk for serious infection that may require medical treatment.

To avoid illness, The Laundress says in the recall page that consumers should toss out the product by closing the bottle tightly and putting it in household trash. Consumers can get reimbursed for products bought on or after January 1, 2021 with a photo of the bottle showing the lot code, their initials, the date written in marker, a valid receipt (product description, quantity, price paid), or email address if the products were purchased through www.TheLaundress.com.

If the products were purchased before January 1, 2021, consumers can submit a photo of the bottle with the lot code, their initials, the date written in marker, and a valid receipt for a full refund of the purchase price. If the submitted photo has a date and initial without a valid receipt, consumers will receive the manufacturer's suggested retail price. And for those who purchased the products on www.TheLaundress.com and have already submitted email address, The Laundress team will contact the consumer by email for reimbursement or further steps.
