The Latest News About Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Television Network

This past November, Chip Gaines shared some exciting news on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: “We signed a non-disclosure and it said quote unquote you can tell your mother but that’s it,” Chip said. “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television. You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us, well maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we are excited to be back.”

Now, some new details have emerged about the partnership between the Gaines family and Discovery. In a quarterly earnings call, the CEO of Discovery, David Zaslav, said that Chip and Joanna are busy working to create a linear network built around them, with a direct-to-consumer component, as The Hollywood Reporter initially reported. Zaslav also revealed that Discovery has been down to Waco to visit the home of the developing Magnolia Network.

"We now have an opportunity, with Chip and Jo, to take a network that is doing OK and take it to the next level, but...we also have a real vision for that in terms of going direct to consumer," Zaslav reported said on the call.

Zaslav didn't reveal what channel Magnolia will replace, but The Hollywood Reporter references past speculations that it could be the DIY Channel, Destination America, or Great American Country.
