We knew going into this year that it would be the season finale for Last Man Standing, but the recent news about the last episode's air date still has us upset.

After nine years on the air, Last Man Standing is officially coming to an end. In 2020, Fox announced that season 9 would be the final for the hit show, starring Tim Allen and Nancy Travis. And recently, it was revealed on Instagram that the series finale would be taking place on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The show captioned a photo of the cast with the news, while also saying, "It's the end of the #LastManStanding era."

That means our time with the Baxters is over! Naturally, fans were devastated to learn about such a close end date. "Sad to see you all go. We've had so many laughs over the years," one wrote on Instagram. "I will miss this show," said another. "Please don't end!" reads one comment. There are also many sad face and broken heart emojis conveying everyone's feelings.

The finale will be an hour long (although it does look like it will be broken up into two half-hour episodes), but that still doesn't take the sting away from it all.

As we approach the air date, Tim has been very active on Twitter sharing behind-the-scenes footage of filming, including this emotional selfie.

Amanda Fuller, who plays Kristin, also posted a bunch of clips from the show as R.E.M's It's the End of the World as We Know It played in the background.

Needless to say, tonight, we're all going to be raising a glass of beer to Mike, Vanessa, Ed, and the whole crew.
