Las Vegas Ski Resort Announces $7 Million Investment In Resort Upgrades

Las Vegas, NV is known for warm weather, gambling, big boxing matches, and nightlife entertainment, but did you know there's a ski resort just 45 minutes from The Strip?

Lee Canyon, formerly known as Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard resort, has been operating on the north facing slopes of Lee Mountain since the 1960s.

The resort has been busy this offseason after a banner winter. They've just announced $7 million in capital improvements. More details below:

Highlights of the investment include a new quad chairlift that serves beginner and intermediate terrain, a parking lot with 450 additional stalls, and a new conveyor lift to for beginners.

The new chairlift will serve the Foxtail Alley, Limber Pine Lane, and Bonanza Ridge runs on the mountain's southeast side. Lee Canyon says these trails are perfect for beginners progressing to intermediates.

Lee Canyon saw more snowfall last season than any in their recorded history, and it seems like they're looking to capitalize on the uptick in skiers.

Dan Hooper, Lee Canyon's General Manager, had this to say in a press release about the investment project:

"Lee Canyon is seeing more visitors, first-time and youth skiers, and snowboarders. Collectively, these investments also mean we can better serve the needs of those populations, especially families whose kids are skiing free with our Power Kids pass."

Lee Canyon is owned and operated by Mountain Capital Partners (MCP), a growing portfolio of ski resorts and bike parks across the country.

MCP has invested millions of dollars in Lee Canyon in recent years. The newly-announced investments come on the heels of a new 10,000 sq. ft. base lodge that opened in 2019.
