Las Vegas' Coolest Light Show Is Hidden in This Nightclub
The Las Vegas Strip may be famous for its flashing lights and dazzling attractions, like a volcanic eruption and a Lady Gaga-themed water spectacle. But the coolest new light show in Sin City is actually located indoors at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
Hakkasan, a mega club spanning five levels within the MGM Grand, recently unveiled a state of the art kinetic light installation that looks and feels like something straight out of a futuristic sci-fi movie. Called The Hakkasan Grid, the installation lives directly above the dance floor almost like a technological ecosystem designed to ebb and flow and grow and shrink with the music turning from celebrity djs below.
Made up of 57 triangles that were 3-D printed in Germany by WHITEvoid, the Hakkasan Grid “is the largest permanent kinetic light installation in the United States,” according to the club. Using pixel-mapping and color-mixing technology, the triangles can individually or collectively display colors, patterns, or images tailored to the experience happening with the music. Think of The Grid like the actual 30-foot beating heart of the nightclub, but with glowing veins like something out of “Avatar.”
Besides the The Grid, guests at Hakkasan can enjoy a star-studded residency in 2019 featuring some of the world’s most influential DJs including Tiësto, Zedd, and Steve Aoki. The powerhouse DJs combined with The Grid make Hakkasan a powerplayer in the competitive Las Vegas nightlife scene.

And if that’s not enough, Hakkasan has a restaurant serving up modern Cantonese food, a handful of intimate and VIP lounge areas, plus a stacked calendar of events to experience throughout the rest of the year.
