Largest Flying American Flag Carried By Ski Patrollers To Celebrate Independence Day

Happy 4th of July from all of us here at Powder Magazine. We hope your long weekend is filled with fireworks, burgers, hot dogs, and skiing!

What better way to celebrate the 4th than by watching a giant American flag descend down Sundance Mountain Resort, Utah in the hands of ski patrollers?

Check out the fantastic video below:

Follow The Flag: "Over 100 volunteers came together for with one goal in mind, to take the ultimate symbol of freedom to the the snowy mountain tops of Sundance mountain resort. It was then we united as one and together we pulled off an American dream to ski the world's largest free flying American flag down the mountain. Baby Betsy also made her way down the mountain with a group of Sundance ski patrol we affectionately nick named this group #Freedomspeed

Big Betsy is flown in Pleasant Grove Utah every July 4th. WE invite you to see and feel the heart beat of America as this huge flag flys across a 1,100 ft. wide canyon."

The video above shows two flags. The larger flag is known as Big Betsy.

It is displayed off I-15 in Pleasant Grove, Utah each 4th of July. The flag is 1/4 of an acre, and weighs over 400 pounds.

Larger flags exist, like the ones used at football games, but Big Betsy is believed to be the largest that is suspended in the air to "fly". Check out the video below of Big Betsy flying near Pleasant Grove back in 2018:
