Reddick was only 60 when he died unexpectedly on March 17.

A cause of death has finally been revealed for Lance Reddick, who was found dead at his home on March 17.

According to the late actor's death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, heart disease was responsible for his passing; specifically, Reddick had ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.

According to the American Heart Association, ischemic heart disease—also known as coronary artery disease—is a narrowing of the arteries that leads to restricted blood flow, which decreases the oxygen reaching the heart muscle.

The disease often causes angina—or chest pain—but it can also involve what is known as silent ischemia, which can cause a person to have a heart attack with no warning.

Meanwhile, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is an overarching umbrella of diseases, including ischemic heart disease, that are caused by a buildup of plaque in the arterial walls. According to the AHA, conditions related to this group of diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide.

At the time of his passing, Reddick, who was 60, was in the middle of press for John Wick: Chapter 4. His castmates paid tribute to him at the film's Los Angeles premiere, where Keanu Reeves called Reddick "a very beautiful person [and a] special artist," noting that he would "cherish forever" the chance they had to work together.

Laurence Fishburne became emotional speaking about the loss of Reddick, adding, "We dedicate the film to him and his family. Life is…hard sometimes."

Other celebrities sent out thoughtful tributes for Reddick, too, including Ben Stiller, who tweeted, "Lance Reddick was an [sic] beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person...He was exquisite in that and all he did. Nothing is lost."

Reddick's death certificate also reveals that the former Fringe actor was cremated.
