Girl Meets NSYNC!

Danielle Fishel and Lance Bass are working together for a new movie about their ‘90s love story.

The Boy Meets World actress announced the project during Monday’s episode of her podcast Pod Meets World, co-hosted by Will Friedle and Rider Strong

Lauren Lapkus and Mary Holland will pen the script.

“Lance and I are actually working on a movie about our love story and about our prom experience,” she explained before welcoming the *NSYNC alum to the episode.

"For those of you who don't know, I dated Lance for about a year while I was on Boy Meets World," Fishel explained. "It was my senior year, and Lance came with me to my high school prom."

The former couple then gave some background about their romance, explaining that they met when *NSYNC performed at a TGIF live special on ABC in 1999.

Bass had a crush on Fishel, but when he was too nervous to ask her out, he sent his wingman and band member, Justin Timberlake, to get her phone number.

Eventually, they started dating, with Fishel reportedly visiting him during tour breaks and even spending time with his family in Mississippi for Christmas.

“Lance and I had a very wonderful, very warm, loving relationship but it was completely lacking of intimacy — intimacy in the romantic sense,” Fishel explained.

As any young girl with a crush on a boy bander, Fishel admitted that she "envisioned" their future, thinking she was "going to marry Lance."

“I held on for hope for way too long that we were going to get back together and get married and have a family,” she said, jokingly adding, “It turns out I’m not Lance’s type.

Bass—who is now married to Michael Turchin—came out in 2006. He explained that prom night, in particular, was a huge turning point for his identity, which is why he felt compelled to turn his experience into a movie that might resonate with others.

“The reason we wanted to make this prom story into a film, I think so many people can relate to that story; so many people in the LGBT community, their prom night was the night they were like, ‘Oh, wait a minute. This can’t happen anymore,’” he revealed.

He continued: “This was the catalyst for me that made me start to accept myself, which took a long time after that, but that was definitely the first little straw that broke.”

Fishel recalled the evening, noting: “Lance and I had a hotel room booked and I had a vision for what that night was going to be and Lance was very nervous about what my vision for that night was going to be. That is the night Lance talks about, where he felt like he was hurting me by not being honest with himself or anyone else about what was going on in his life so it was kind of the impetus for him to say, ‘I’m going to end our relationship.’”

Two weeks later, Bass broke up with Fishel, blaming it on distance. He eventually came out to her a few years later, and they’ve remained close friends ever since.

Bass and Turchin are parents to 10-month-old twins Violet Betty and Alexander James, while Fishel shares two sons, Adler Lawrence, 3, and Keaton Joseph, 1, with husband Jensen Karp.

In previous episodes of the podcast, Fishel and her Boy Meets World co-stars gave fans an unfiltered look at behind-the-scenes moments of the teen sitcom, including the damaging set environment, a desire to have intimacy coordinators on set, and even Fishel being catfished by someone she thought was a fan.
