Lance Armstrong Explains His Love For The Process Of Winning

Truly great athletes are built differently. Generally, they are obsessive to a degree that we mortals cannot comprehend.

One of these obsessive winners was Lance Armstrong. Armstrong’s famous competitive spirit was what put him over the top in competition. Hear Lance explain his commitment to preparation in an interview on the Club Random Podcast below.

In this video, Armstrong explains that the process behind attempting to win the Tour De France was better than the victory itself. Though many of us might prefer basking in the glory, Lance is not wired that way. The famously intense Texan had already moved on to thinking about tackling the next thing.

It is perhaps for this reason that Lance felt so uncomfortable in retirement and made a comeback at 38 years old.

The obvious retort for why Lance was a successful cyclist. The fact that he was busted for doping is a valid part of the story. However, to rise to the top so emphatically in what was one of the dirtiest eras in any sport shows an elite mindset.

The obsession with winning and the commitment to the process is what makes great athletes beat good ones.
