Lana Del Rey and Chris Evans Had Scathing Responses for Kanye West After His MAGA Rant

In addition to wearing his MAGA hat on SNL's stage and giving a spontaneous, pro-Trump rant that wasn't part of the broadcast, this weekend Kanye West tweeted that the U.S. should abolish the 13th Amendment. The 13th Amendment outlaws slavery, and West announced the idea initially on his Twitter and Instagram. In a shot of him in his MAGA hat, he wrote, "This represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love."

"The 13th Amendment is slavery in disguise meaning it never ended," he tweeted after. "We are the solution that heals."

Later, he clarified that he didn't quite mean abolish the amendment but rather amend it. "Not abolish but. Let’s amend the 13th amendment We apply everyone’s opinions to our platform," he wrote.

Despite the slight turnaround, the damage was done. Both Lana Del Rey and Chris Evans left critical responses to West. Evans retweeted West's MAGA photo tweet and wrote, "There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying."

Del Rey, who performed at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding, got more personal in the comment she left under West's Instagram of the same hat image and caption. "Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture," she started.

"I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism-none of which would be a talking point if we weren't speaking about the man leading our country. If you think it's alright to support someone who believes it's OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he's famous-then you need an intervention as much as he does-something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn't enough help for the issue. Message sent with concern that will never be addressed."
