An adaptation of Donald E. Westlake's Parker novels is in the works at Amazon MGM Studios, with Shane Black directing.

The Hollywood Reporter shares that LaKeith Stanfield is set to join Mark Wahlberg in Play Dirty, the crime thriller that follows Parker, a craftsman and professional thief who approaches his job with a straightforward, no-nonsense work ethic. He is also deadly.

Wahlberg will play Parker while Stanfield will star as Grofield, a con artist who is instilled to help him outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world's richest man.

Shane Black collaborated on the script with Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi. Black's previous credits include The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey are executive producers, with Black, Mondry, Bagarozzi and James Skotchdopole.

Jules Daly, Marc Toberoff and Ezra Emanuel are also credited as producers on the project.

Stanfield's latest film, The Book of Clarence, just hit theaters.

Written and directed by Jeymes Samuel, it follows Clarence, who is captivated by the power of the rising Messiah and soon risks everything to carve a path to a divine existence.

The actor has previously starred in Judas and the Black Messiah, which earned him his first Oscar nomination. Stanfield's other credits include The Harder They Fall, Knives Out, Uncut Gems, Sorry to Bother You and Get Out.
