Lake Tahoe's Largest Ski Resort Greets Season's First "Real" Snowfall With Excitement

It's the middle of October, and while opening day is still more than a month away, the folks over at Palisades Tahoe, CA are starting to gear up for the ski season to come.

Residents of the Lake Tahoe region were greeted by the season's first "real" snowfall on the morning of October 11, 2023, and according to a social media post by Palisades Tahoe, "(they) couldn’t be more stoked!".

Check out the images below of snow covering Palisades' peaks above 8,000 feet:

Palisades Tahoe is claiming this is their first "real" snowfall. Flakes were spotted falling on webcams earlier this month, but yesterday's flurries were the first to leave any significant accumulation at the resort.

October can be a frustrating month for skiers and snowboarders. The change of seasons and the first few dustings of snow means ski season is near, but there's still a solid month or so before we really get into the swing of things.

No matter. A few dustings of snow will hold us over until the time comes.

Palisades Tahoe has set a targeted opening day of November 22nd, 2023, conditions and weather permitting.

Palisades is known to open early if the stars align. Skiers will remember the quick start to last season.

More than three feet of snow fell in early November allowing the resort to open five days earlier than what was initially planned. Will that happen this year? That remains to be seen, but October storms are certainly a good omen, right...?
