Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts Announce Closing Dates As Season Winds Down

Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, CA, has announced that because "spring has sprung, and we’re in the final stretch of the season."

This means closing day, for them and many other resorts, is imminent, as much as we hate to admit it. See their full post below.

Heavenly reportedly closes Sunday, April 21, and officials posted a run-down of what to expect until then.

All lifts will continue to spin through Sunday, March 31 (conditions permitting) with the exception of Galaxy chair which closed March 25. As open terrain decreases, the resort will slowly shut down Boulder, North Bowl, First Ride on April 1 for the season.

On April 8th, Mott and Olympic close for season

On April 15th - Stagecoach, Comet (except for end of day egress), Canyon, Groove chairs close for season.

Groove Terrain Park is open through April 21 with access from Patsy’s.

April 15th - 21st: Final week operating plan - Heavenly will operate Gondola, Tamarack, Dipper, Sky, Powderbowl, Patsy’s, Gunbarrel, Tram, with the Gondola open for sightseeing access. Groove Terrain Park is open with access from Patsy’s chair.

Heavenly isn't the only resort to be winding down this month. Kirkwood Mountain announced their closing date of Sunday, April 28th (which is a two-week extension from their normal closing date). See below.

Tahoe Donner closes on April 7th. 

Sugar Bowl is planning to close on April 28th. 

Mt. Rose is scheduled to close on April 30th. 

Both Northstar and Boreal are scheduled to close on April 14th.

Diamond Peak Ski Area has not officially announced a closing date, but last season they closed on May 1st due to the large amounts of snow Tahoe saw over the course of the winter.

Palisades Tahoe will remain open until May 27th, through Memorial Day weekend, in what they proclaim to be "Tahoe's longest ski season."
