Lady Sophie Windsor’s London Art Biennale Dress Was Chic & Springy, but Her Choice of Heels Was…Unexpected
Florals for spring? Not so groundbreaking. Florals for spring paired with footwear that screams, "I can't decide if it's summer or winter?" Now that's groundbreaking. (Whether or not Miranda Priestly would approve? Debatable.)
At the opening of the London Art Biennale, Sophie Winkleman, aka Lady Frederick Windsor, was tasked with kicking off the biannual exhibition. To dress the part, she donned a springy floral patterned frock in shades of white and blue. That's all well and good…but we're scratching our heads just a bit at her choice of shoes.
Peep those…peep toes. The actress (who is the wife of Lord Frederick Windsor and daughter-in-law of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent) opted for suede peep-toe ankle booties, because nothing says "warm weather" or "art exhibit" quite like a little foot sweat. (We kid, we kid. The peep toes give them ventilation.)
Sophie, of course, isn't the only royal with an affinity for florals. The monarchy apparently thrives in any type of blossom print; Sophie, however, is putting a much more casual spin on the trend with this loose, flowy silhouette.
Regardless of Lady Sophie's seasonal shoe choice, the exhibit will benefit Age UK Kensington and Chelsea as part of Dementia Awareness Week. It includes the world's first virtual reality digital art installation (designed by artist Marcel Schreur), which allows people to experience what life is like with dementia.
The installation, which is located at Chelsea Old Town Hall, is titled “Life is Beautiful. Always.” Even when you're wearing suede boots in May.
