The 2019 awards season officially hit full swing with the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday night, and it's already shaping up to be Lady Gaga's for the taking. Not only is she receiving great critical acclaim and award recognition for her turn as Ally Maine in "A Star Is Born," but she's also been topping best dressed lists since the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

The pop superstar-turned-actress appeared on the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet in a stunning blue gown from Valentino's Fall 2018 Haute Couture runway, a collection which brought house founder Valentino Garavani to tears. With its ball-gown shape and dramatic sleeves, Gaga's look could certainly draw comparisons to Cinderella — especially with her tonally-matching topknot and diamond necklace. But there just might be another inspiration behind Gaga's blue gown: Judy Garland in the starring role of Vicki Lester in the 1954 version of "A Star Is Born." An eagle-eyed Twitter user spotted the similarities between this gown and one worn by Garland.

This wouldn't be the first time Gaga paid tribute to one of her fellow "A Star Is Born" leads on the red carpet. At the film's premiere in Los Angeles, Gaga picked a Givenchy gown which subtly nodded to a look worn by Barbra Streisand in the 1976 version of the film. Leave it to a brilliant artist like Gaga to give homage to those who came before her in the most stylish way.
