Lady Gaga Revealed a Hidden Meaning Behind Her Inauguration Day Outfit

A day after the inauguration and people still can't stop talking about all of the memes, fashion, and, of course, hope, that was present during the swearing in of President Biden. One of the main points of conversation, though, was Lady Gaga's dramatic dress, which she wore to perform the National Anthem. Luckily, the singer took to Twitter to explain the outfit and even share a special meaning behind it.

On Wednesday, Gaga stepped out in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress, complete with a red silk skirt and fitted navy top. The pièce de résistance, however, was the giant dove that sat on top of her left breast.

The whole look reminded the internet of Hunger Games character Effie Trinket and it led to an onslaught of memes online.

In reality, though, there is actually a beautiful meaning behind Gaga's statement accessory. "A dove carrying an olive branch," she wrote alongside a picture of the pin on Twitter. "May we all make peace with each other."

She also took some time to speak about the day and the honor she felt to be part of the event. "Singing our National Anthem for the American People is my honor," she said. "I will sing during a ceremony, a transition, a moment of change—between POTUS 45 and 46. For me, this has great meaning....My intention is to acknowledge our past, be healing for our present, and passionate for a future where we work together lovingly. I will sing to the hearts of all people who live on this land. Respectfully and kindly, Lady Gaga."

Only Gaga could unite the Internet in memes, song, and hope at the same time.
