Lady Gaga performed at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration Day ceremony on Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. She sang the National Anthem, wearing a gown designed to be a love letter to the United States.

Gaga chose a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture ensemble, designed by American creative director Daniel Roseberry. The dress featured a fitted jacket in navy cashmere and a dramatic full skirt in washed red silk faille. She completed the look with a statement-making gilded dove of peace brooch.

“As an American living in Paris, this ensemble is a love letter to the country I miss so dearly and to a performer whose artistry I have so long admired,” Roseberry said in a statement. “Maison Schiaparelli is honored to have this chance to dress the iconic Lady Gaga on this historic Inauguration Day. God Bless Lady Gaga and God Bless America.”

On Wednesday, Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president. Kamala Harris, meanwhile, took the oath to become America’s first female vice president. Harris is also the first Black and first South Asian person to serve as VP.

Gaga has been a vocal proponent for President Biden and VP Harris. During the election, she joined Biden on the campaign trail in Pennsylvania, attending rallies and performing for Biden supporters.

Last night, the “Rain on Me” singer made her way the U.S. Capitol, wearing an all-white ensemble. Her look included a white turtleneck, cream trousers and a custom v-neck cape coat from Givenchy. She completed the look with custom Giuseppe Zanotti white satin platform lace-up boots.

“I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans,” Gaga captioned her Instagram post. “A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol.”

Earlier today, Gaga wore an all-white outfit again ahead of the Inauguration ceremony. She arrived this morning for the event in a custom Alaïa double-breasted wool coat and matching face mask.

Later tonight, a primetime special, titled “Celebrating America,” will spotlight American heroes and is scheduled to take place at 8:30 p.m. ET. The 90-minute program will be hosted by Tom Hanks and will feature speeches from Biden and Harris. Bruce Springsteen, the Foo Fighters, John Legend, Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington will also make appearances.

“Celebrating America” will broadcast live on ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and MSNBC. It will also be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch.
