Lady Gaga Gave Her All While Singing the National Anthem at the Inauguration

Lady Gaga graced Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's inauguration with her presence—and her voice—as she performed the national anthem at today's official ceremony.

Wearing custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture, the 11-time Grammy winner belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner" in front of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., before the newest president and vice-president, their families, and swaths of government officials. Gaga calmly took hold of her golden mic and delivered a spirited, dramatic rendition of the anthem, nailing her high notes as the United States Marine Band played behind her.

"Singing our National Anthem for the American People is my honor. I will sing during a ceremony, a transition, a moment of change—between POTUS 45 and 46. For me, this has great meaning," she tweeted before taking the stage.

"My intention is to acknowledge our past, be healing for our present, and passionate for a future where we work together lovingly. I will sing to the hearts of all people who live on this land. Respectfully and kindly, Lady Gaga."

This isn't her first time singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" on the national stage. In 2016, Gaga serenaded the crowd at the Super Bowl, then glittering in a red Gucci suit and matching eye shadow.

Gaga announced her arrival at the nation's capital yesterday with an Instagram post promoting love, hope, and unity, echoing the incoming president's inaugural theme. "I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans," she captioned a photo taken at the Capitol, mere weeks after a pro-Trump riot infiltrated its halls. "A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol 🇺🇸."
