Lady Gaga Embraces Hedi Slimane’s New Glam-Grunge Celine
At yesterday’s Celine show in Paris, all eyes were on Hedi Slimane and what fashion message he would present for the label. (As it turns out, it was all super-short glam-grunge dresses and skinny men’s suits, very much in line with his past work at Dior Homme and Saint Laurent.) Though his debut certainly flipped the script on existing house codes, Slimane already had several ardent fans in the front row, including Lady Gaga. The singer turned actress attended the show, embracing Slimane’s hard-edged aesthetic herself.
Gaga wore all-black, which remains a Slimane signature and was the color that made up most of his Celine collection. She matched the lineup in a patent snakeskin trench coat, worn with a simple black turtleneck dress. She accessorized with her trusty Celine satchel handbag, which she debuted earlier in August, and black leather stiletto boots. As she’s proven during her A Star Is Born promo tour, Gaga is indeed a master fashion shapeshifter—and this latest look scores a point for Team Hedi.
