Lady Gaga always delivers at the Video Music Awards red carpet, and her appearance was no different. The singer stepped out in black dress under a silver jacket, which accessorized with black platform boots and, most noticeably, a clear helmet. The topper, in particular, is by New York-based label Area, which walk down its fall 2020 runway show.

"I was wearing face shields before it was a thing," she joked of the look on Twitter.

Indeed, the ensemble is a clear reference to the VMA's iconic Moon Person statue—something she has plenty of, having won 13 throughout her career. And Gaga could very well be adding a lot more to her mantle. This year, she is up for a whopping nine awards, including seven—Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects, and Best Pop video—for "Rain on Me," her collaboration with Ariana Grande. She is also a contender for Best Artist of the Year and Best Quarantine Performance for her "Smile" from One World: Together at Home.

Gaga is set to sing "Rain on Me" with Grande live for the fist time. And we are waiting with bated breath to see the look she has for what we expect to be the performance of the night.
