Lady Gaga And Ariana Grande's 'Rain On Me' Music Video Is Your New Favorite Superhero Movie
Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande dropped their duet "Rain on Me" at midnight, and they didn't make fans wait long for the music video they made for it. It features them dancing and channeling their inner superheroes (in latex ensembles) to the poppy track.
Grande and Gaga both spoke to Zane Lowe on Apple Music about what it was like to work together. Grande had glowing praise for Gaga. "It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and like straight pop again, because I do feel like it's been a minute since I've done something that poppy," Grande started. "And that's funny because I am a pop person, but it's just, everyone knows that my heart is kind of rooted in the R&B influence music that I make… But it just felt so good and fun and happy to dip a toe into her world a little bit, and to try this on for size."
Grande also discussed the differences between working on her own music and collaborating with another artist. "It's like, you would tell your story, and you make your music and you do your thing, and then when an artist like Lady Gaga, who has such a magnificent point of view, and such an articulate message to send, you kind of are completely giving yourself over to her, and being like, 'I'm so down to just walk in, help you tell your story, and also express some of mine through your thing. Thank you for having me. Here we are, we can both relate on this topic.' And she made me feel so comfortable."
Grande then praised Gaga's character, especially on set. "[Lady Gaga is] just a beautiful person," she said. "She does do a really fantastic job riding that line of being like, 'Hey, it is what it is,' but also like, 'I'm going to give you a fucking show, and I'm going to pick every color that's on the screen. Every lighting, every shot, every wig that every dancer is wearing…I'm going to help Ari with picking her makeup and her hair…' You know what I mean? It's awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. And respect for another artist."
