Lacoste and Supreme Are Bringing Back Prep

By Jake Woolf.

Last month, Supreme announced an epic collaboration with French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, using its streetwise sensibilities to break through the perceived stuffiness of the storied fashion house. But while we wait for the Louis Vuitton product to actually hit stores, it's another French label, Lacoste, which has teamed up with Supreme on products that will be available much sooner. The 84-year-old label, which like Ralph Lauren has long made of one of the world's most recognizable polo shirts (in fact it was René Lacoste who popularized the style before Ralph Lifshitz was even born), has teamed up with the New York City skate brand on a few of the moment pieces in addition to some prep classics.

There's a full windbreaker suit for the younger crowd in addition to some boarding school-leaning favorites like a collegiate sweater, fleece crewnecks and shorts in Nantucket-ready pale hues, and of course, some polo shirts. Though they're all long-sleeve styles, the Supreme branding is minimal on the collar, and other than one striped option come in solid black, white, and Supreme's signature red. It's easy to see which items might fly off shelves the quickest (that red and white windbreaker), but it's less easy to tell what Supreme backing the prep look could mean for menswear. Is preppy back? With an endorsement from Supreme, it could be just about time to dust off your old rep ties and boat shoes.

Supreme x Lacoste will be available in store and online on March 16.
