Parenthood: it’s a journey like no other. From sleep deprivation that turns 8 AM into midnight, to redefining “clean” as a space that’s simply not actively on fire, the wild aspects of raising children are innumerable. During her commencement speech at Cabrini University, Kylie Kelce humorously highlighted another mind-boggling phenomenon: how time seems to speed up exponentially once you become a parent.

Kylie and Jason Kelce, who met at a local bar, married in April 2018. They are proud parents of three daughters: Wyatt, born in October 2019, Elliotte, in March 2021, and Bennett, in February 2023.

Speaking to Cabrini’s final graduating class before the university ceases operations in June, Kelce brought a sense of humor to the podium of her alma mater. Kelce joked that students “couldn’t even get a top five Kelce” as their commencement speaker, referencing her husband, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, and Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end whose entertainment career is heating up, somewhat due in part to his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift. “My husband, Jason Kelce, is known for giving some pretty earth-shattering speeches,” she quipped. “He did not help me in writing my words today, so you can go ahead and lower those expectations.”

“You are better equipped with knowledge to make more informed decisions,” Kelce told the students. “Just look at me now. I’m 32, mom of three. Where did the time go? I couldn’t tell you, but what I can tell you is I have no idea what I’m doing,” she added, speaking a somewhat scary truth that each parent knows deep down.

“Every day we are winging it, just trying not to mess our kids up. Come to find out, that’s what our parents did, too,” she continued. “I’m not trying to ruin the mirage that is parenting, but I really want you to understand that with determination and a little potentially unjustified confidence, you can get through the times of uncertainty.”

In true mom fashion, Kelce gave students a quick summary of one of the most important rules of both the parenting world and life in general towards the end of her speech: “Fake it until you make it.” As every parent knows, this holds true no matter how many milestones are hit because parenthood flies by, constantly keeping everyone on their toes.
