Kylie Jenner’s Biggest Moments In the Past Year
No one could have predicted what Kylie Jenner’s 20th year on Earth would hold. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and makeup mogul understandably took some time out of the spotlight when rumors of her pregnancy broke in September, then sent fans into a frenzy when she gave birth to her daughter Stormi Webster. But beyond welcoming Stormi into the world with father Travis Scott, there’s also been a flurry of other memorable moments, making for quite a year between 20 and 21. In honor of her 21st birthday on August 10, we’ve rounded up some of the biggest events of her 20th year.
1. Pregnancy rumors break
In late September 2017, rumors broke that Kylie was pregnant with boyfriend Travis Scott. Kylie retreated from the public eye for months, posting on Instagram infrequently and never officially commenting on the speculation until much later on.
2. Questions About the Christmas Card
Kylie was noticeably absent from the legendary Kardashian Christmas Card of 2017. Fans thought she might show up in the final piece of the family pic, but she was MIA. The rest of the family looked adorable on the seasonal card, with the Kardashian sisters’ kids also joining in on the fun.
3. The big announcement
Kylie shared the news of her pregnancy and the birth of Stormi on February 4 (Super Bowl Sunday, of all days) with a post that came close to breaking the internet. She revealed the news to fans and shared that she wanted to keep her experience as private as possible, then gave them a glimpse at the past nine months with a sweet YouTube video.
4. The first peek at Stormi
The first official photo of Stormi Webster currently has more than 18 million likes on Instagram. That’s not nothing. Kylie shared a pic of her baby daugther clutching her thumb and revealed the baby’s name to the world; Stormi was chosen by Kylie and Travis, and Webster is Travis’s actual last name. (His real name is Jacques Webster.) The pic was so popular that it even spawned a nail art tribute. Even as a toddler, Stormi has plenty of influence. She also inspired a Kylie Cosmetics makeup collection.
5. A brand new car
There’s nothing like a return to Instagram without giving fans something to marvel at. Travis gifted Kylie with a jet-black Ferrari LaFerrari worth $1.4 million dollars soon after the Stormi news was announced. NBD, right?
6. Kylie shares her thoughts on Snapchat
Back in late Febraury, Snapchat reportedly $1.3 billion in market value due to a stock plunge after Kylie tweeted about not liking the app’s new update. Can you imagine having that much clout? Kylie still uses the platform, but she seems to be moving to Instagram Stories more and more.
7. A Mean Girls reference at Coachella
Kylie hit up Coachella in a bright pink wig, writing, “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom” on her Insta post. It was totally fetch and hopefully she’ll bring back the wig for another Wednesday in the future.
8. Setting some boundaries about Stormi
After some controversy surrounding Stormi’s paternity, Kylie stopped posting photos of her daughter’s face on social. “I'm not sharing photos of my girl right now,” she wrote in an Insta comment. Stormi has popped up in posts since, but her face isn’t visible. Kylie later posted a pic of herself and Travis, captioning it “Stormi’s parents” and putting the controversy to rest.
9. The Met Gala
Kylie and Travis hit up the Met Gala alongside her sisters Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner along with momager Kris Jenner. Kylie walked the red carpet and went full Matrix in a long Alexander Wang gown and tiny sunglasses, the perfect look for early 2018.
10. Kylie removes her lip filler
In early July, fans noticed Kylie looked a bit different in photos. When someone inquired about the new look, saying she looked like the “Old Kylie,” Kylie replied, “I got rid of all my filler 😳😳🙂.” (Kylie memorably confirmed her use of filler in 2015.) We think she looks gorgeous either way; as long as Kylie’s happy, we’re happy.
11. Kylie appears on the cover of Forbes
Kylie snagged the cover of Forbes magazine in early July; the magazine claimed she was on track to become the “youngest-ever self-made billionaire” due to the success of Kylie Cosmetics. That said, there was some controversy over the phrase “self-made.” Many pointed out that Kylie had a leg up on her competitors because of her famous family.
12. Kylie and Travis score a GQ cover
Forbes wasn’t Kylie’s only magazine cover that month, either. She and boyfriend Travis Scott were featured on GQ magazine’s August cover, and also did a cute Q&A video to accompany the story. How many Kylie Cosmetics products can Travis name? Or does he know the names of Kylie’s dogs? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
13. Kylie gets ready to turn 21
How will Kylie celebrate her milestone birthday? We have a feeling it’s going to be a very big deal, especially if you think about the extravagant parties and gifts she’s gotten in the past. We can’t wait to see how she’s going to ring in 21, so we’ll be glued to Instagram and Snapchat on August 10 as not to miss a moment. Happy birthday, Kylie!
