It wouldn’t be the first time that Kylie Jenner was caught up in controversy. But the 22-year-old isn’t having such an easy start to 2020 after being accused of cultural appropriation just a few days in.

The young mom and makeup mogul took to her Instagram on Thursday to post a never-before-seen picture taken by the Morelli Brothers — a pair of Italian photographers — for a shoot inspired by singer Gwen Stefani from the music video for “Moby” with South Side. However, soon after putting the picture on her page and receiving criticism, Jenner removed it from her feed and posted it to her Instagram stories instead.

Jenner’s makeup artist, Ariel Tejada, joined the Morelli Brothers in reposting the photo to his Instagram, where people continue to make negative comments. One person wrote on Tejada’s post, “This gotta go,” while another took to Twitter to comment.

Others said that there was “no need” to post the throwback, and suggested that it was done just to stir up drama in the new year.

“It’s from an old old photoshoot,” one wrote. Another replied, “She’s trying to start her 2020 bad.”

Still, fans of the look said that the reference to Stefani was evident and even praised Tejada for nailing it.

“Oh we know the inspo” someone said. Another wrote, “This look is everything.”

Jenner’s friend, Sofia Richie, even chimed in to say, “This is the best photo I’ve ever seen.” Maye Musk also commented on the Morelli’s post with hearts.

The photographers didn’t immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment.
