Kyle Jacobs, Kellie Pickler's Husband and Country Songwriter, Dead at 49

Songwriter penned hits for Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and many others.

Country singer and American Idol alum Kellie Pickler's husband, Kyle Jacobs, died at home in Nashville earlier today, Feb. 17, TMZ has confirmed. He was 49.

The publication originally shared that police were called to the couple's residence for an apparent death by suicide after an unidentified man shot himself on the property.

Not long after, the Nashville Police Department announced that the man had been identified as Jacobs.

Police sources told TMZ that Pickler was asleep shortly before the incident. When she woke up and didn't see Jacobs she went looking for him. When she and an assistant were unable to get an upstairs bedroom door open, they called 911.

The couple were married in 2011 and starred on the reality series I Love Kellie Pickler in 2015, offering fans an inside glimpse at their lives together. Jacobs also worked in the industry, writing songs for other stars like Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson, Darius Rucker, and Garth Brooks.

Some of his hits include Brooks' “More Than A Memory”—the fasting rising single in the history of country music, according to Curb | Word Music Publishing—Eli Young band's "Dust," and Lee Brice's "Rumor." According to IMDB, he won the ACM award for Song of the Year for Brice's "I Drive Your Truck" in 2014.
