Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are not only one of Hollywood’s golden couples — they’re part of one of Hollywood’s golden families, with all three of their children following in their footsteps with successful acting careers. In a recent interview, their youngest son, Wyatt Russell, recalled some of his earliest days on set with Kurt, surprisingly calling the experience “very stressful.”

Kurt, 72, and Wyatt, 37, had a conversation with one another for The Rake, and they chatted at length about their family’s dynasty in the film industry. The Hateful Eight star recalled wanting to be an actor after observing his own dad, Bing Russell, on set and realizing the financial benefits of the career path. “I saw these guys having a blast and thought, ‘If they are having fun doing this and they are getting paid to do it, I’m over here — I can do that,'” Kurt told Wyatt.

Wyatt pontificated on the very different experience he had watching Kurt on set when he was young. “What I took away from being on set with you wasn’t so much, ‘This is so much fun, and this is so great and you make money.’ I took away that you have to work really hard to make it work, and it was very stressful,” he explained.

He continued, “I remember coming home with you after the day was over, and you put me to sleep on that — it was like a Days Inn, you put me to sleep on the fold-out couch and you went and sat at this round table in the kitchen and would write and smoke ’til late in the morning, then go to bed.” Wyatt added, “This is something I have now done in my own way, but it was nice to see.”

In addition to his mom’s and dad’s success in Hollywood, Wyatt has also watched his brother Oliver Hudson, 47, and his sister Kate Hudson, 44, enjoy esteemed careers as actors. His conversation with Kurt reveals that even the most celebrated families in the industry have had to navigate difficult situations and struggle to balance work and parenthood — something just about anyone can relate to.
