Kurt Russell Says He’s the ‘Luckiest Father in the World’ After Kate Hudson’s Sweet Father’s Day Photo

We’re always turning to actress Kate Hudson for her epic workouts, like this sled workout, and her beauty tips, like the facial steamer she uses in the morning or the affordable under-eye patches she swears by. But one thing the 43-year-old shares a lot of on the ‘gram is her love for her amazing family. In honor of Father’s Day on Sunday, Hudson posted a throwback photo of herself and Kurt Russell to celebrate her dad. The duo is so adorable snuggling in bed in the pic and the post was just too sweet.

Hudson captioned the image, “Fun, adventurous, passionate, determined, honest, devoted, amazing father and the best head of hair in Los Angeles! Lucky us! Love you, Pa! Happy Father’s Day.”

The post was so sweet, in fact, that Hudson’s mother, Goldie Hawn, commented on the post to share the tear-jerking response from Russell.

“Honey I showed this to daddy. Here’s his message,” The 76-year-old movie star began her comment. “Birdie, Mommy just showed me this picture, this perfect Father’s Day present. I’ve never seen it before. Wow…it’s a killer. Lotta water under the bridge…it’s kinda hard to see it though cause all that water seems to somehow have found its way into my eyes…thanks for making me the luckiest father in the world, sweetheart. I love you, Pa.”

Other friends chimed in to comment on the heartwarming pic, too, including actress Drew Barrymore. She wrote, “Wow, this one almost hurts it’s so sweet.” Hawn commented a second time on the post, adding, “Honey, this picture speaks volumes.”

Hawn, who has been married to Russell for 39 years, posted her own sweet Father’s Day tribute on Instagram. The photo showed Hawn giving the 71-year-old actor a big smooch. “How can I explain the gratitude and love I feel for the greatest father who has given us all so much in this life,” she captioned the photo.

Friends like Chelsea Handler, Katie Couric, and January Jones chimed in to send hearts to the seriously #CouplesGoal pair.

Hudson has previously opened up about her relationship with her biological father, actor and musician Bill Hudson, and her stepfather, Russell. In an interview on Today Hudson said, “Estrangement is unfortunately quite common,” referencing her relationship with her biological father. “I think it’s important for people to talk about that. If they can’t reconnect or if it’s too challenging, that it’s okay, right?”

She continued, “I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that we didn’t know our Dad.”
