The news around the COVID-19 outbreak is constantly changing, but information about food safety and how to keep yourself healthy is crucial right now. Here is a comprehensive list on the foods you should be stocking up on during this period of social distancing, as well as information about your local grocery stores’ changing hours, an explanation of “no-contact delivery,” and a guide on how to help your community and its businesses throughout closures.

Grocery stores across the nation are working hard to keep their shelves stocked so individuals can get whatever they need while staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic and various related shutdowns. In response to this, businesses like Kroger and Domino's are looking to hire thousands of workers to help out.

In response to what's been going on, Kroger has updated its store hours in some locations "based on local circumstances." You can see which stores are affected here. Kroger has also put a limit on how many cold, flu, and sanitary products customers can get per order.

With the demand of products and deliveries, Kroger and Domino's want to hire more employees in order to keep up. Both companies want to hire about 10,000 workers each to support their efforts at this time. This follows an announcement from earlier this week that Amazon wants to bring on 100,000 people to help their delivery orders, according to WJCL 22, an ABC affiliate.

To hire more employees as quickly as possible, Kroger is expediting their hiring process so those that are hired can start working within a few days. While Kroger is trying to hire more employees, there is a petition circulating around the web asking the grocery store giant to provide their workers with paid sick leave.

The petition, which at the time of publication has over 65,000 signatures, explains that Kroger is not providing paid sick leave to employees that test positive for COVID-19 or are placed in quarantine by a medical professional. Instead, the grocery store is giving workers a $25 gift card to employees to show their appreciation.

Kroger told Delish that as of last week, the company implemented emergency leave guidelines which includes 14 days of paid sick leave and a one time pay bonus for both full time and part time grocery store em0ployees.
