With the demand of products and deliveries, Kroger and Domino's want to hire more employees in order to keep up. Both companies want to hire about 10,000 workers each to support their efforts at this time. This follows an announcement from earlier this week that Amazon wants to bring on 100,000 people to help their delivery orders, according to WJCL 22, an ABC affiliate.
To hire more employees as quickly as possible, Kroger is expediting their hiring process so those that are hired can start working within a few days. While Kroger is trying to hire more employees, there is a petition circulating around the web asking the grocery store giant to provide their workers with paid sick leave.
The petition, which at the time of publication has over 65,000 signatures, explains that Kroger is not providing paid sick leave to employees that test positive for COVID-19 or are placed in quarantine by a medical professional. Instead, the grocery store is giving workers a $25 gift card to employees to show their appreciation.
Kroger told Delish that as of last week, the company implemented emergency leave guidelines which includes 14 days of paid sick leave and a one time pay bonus for both full time and part time grocery store em0ployees.
