Once a year, Chanel hosts a very special Métiers d'Art show to pay homage to the small specialist workshops that preserve the expertise and craftsmanship of luxury French couture. Only a very select group of fashion insiders, press and celebrities are invited to the event, which takes place in a different location each time. Past spectacular settings have included the likes of Tokyo, Dakar and the Loire Valley – and as for the new 2023/24 collection? The chosen location was none other than Manchester. Bit random?!!? Well, not really: the city actually has a very rich textile heritage, and the area is where Coco Chanel first discovered tweed jackets.

Last night [7th December], the luxury Parisian fashion house took over the Northern Quarter's famous Thomas Street and turned it into an epic catwalk – with a stellar guestlist to match. Sitting on the front row in all their Chanel finery (which for many included the coolest woollen scarf emblazoned with "MCR" and the famous double-C logo, that was made specially for the occasion) were the likes of Alexa Chung, Hugh Grant, Jenna Coleman and, of course, the brand's longtime muse Kristen Stewart.

Ever the punk fashion queen, Kristen nailed the brief in an intricate monochrome tweed mini-dress complete with a *major* plunging neckline and paired with black biker boots, chunky chain necklaces and shaggy red hair. Now, let's be honest, a classic Chanel tweed dress doesn't exactly scream rock chick LA actress... But it's *so* Kristen to pull it off by adding her own signature styling details – and keeping the dress sexily unbuttoned at the chest, too. Chanel just got a whole lot cooler...
