Krispy Kreme Just Introduced Another Line of Doughnuts, but Not for You

But they are for your best friend.

It’s been a great summer for Krispy Kreme doughnut fans. In July, the bakery famous for its hot glazed doughnuts brought back the chocolate glazed doughnut for World Chocolate Day. In May, Class of 2023 graduates could snag a dozen free doughnuts. On the 4th of July, wearing red, white, and blue earned customers a free patriotic-inspired treat. And just earlier this week, the strawberry glazed doughnut returned, for a limited time.

Now the chain just announced its latest limited-time doughnut creation, and we’re sorry to tell you, it’s not for you. Or for any other human. In honor of National Dog Day, Krispy Kreme will offer specially formulated doggie doughnuts so you can treat your best friend too.

Pup'kin Spice Doggie Doughnuts

Starting Saturday, August 26, and running through Thursday, August 31, Krispy Kreme will offer handmade, doughnut-shaped biscuits for dogs in four pumpkin-flavored variations:

  • Pup’kin Spice Original Glazed,

  • Pup’kin Spice Cake

  • Pup’kin Spice Maple Peanut

  • Pup’kin Spice Cheesecake Swirl

The doggie doughnuts come in a special six-count box for purchase in-shop and via drive-thru. Krispy Kreme welcomes pet owners to bring their pawsome pups through the drive-thru to order their own Pup’kin Spice Doughnuts, but don’t bring your furry friend inside the store unless it’s a service dog.

This is the second year the brand has offered special National Dog Day treats for our four-legged friends. It's also the second year it has partnered with Huds and Toke, an Australia-based artisan pet treat company, to ensure the doggie doughnuts are safe for canine consumption.

Each treat is specially designed for dogs of all sizes and ages. The doughnut-shaped biscuits are hard-baked cookies that contain pumpkin, peanut butter, and carob, a chocolate substitute. They are snacks, and the company reminds pet owners they “are not formulated to be served as a complete and balanced meal.”

The doggie doughnuts are inspired by the brand’s popular seasonal pumpkin spice doughnut collection that launched earlier this month and includes all the human favorites: Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Swirl, Pumpkin Spice Maple Pecan Doughnut, Pumpkin Spice Original Glazed Doughnut, and Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut.
