Krispy Kreme Is Giving Free Doughnuts to Teachers Next Week

It’s safe to say that 2020 has been a bad and inordinately stressful year for you. That’s been especially true for frontline healthcare workers, the unemployed, and underpaid service workers. Now, teachers and even students surely deserve a spot among those groups. That’ll happen when you’re forced back to work amid a pandemic and tasked with running a classroom full of unruly 10-year-olds on a shoestring budget that already required you to pay for your own supplies.

So while teachers have had to add writing their wills to their back to school to-do list, one consolation is that Krispy Kreme wants to at least give them some free doughnuts to enjoy before navigating the overcrowded hallways of their workplace.

In honor of “Educator Appreciation Week," Krispy Kreme is giving out a free Original Glazed Doughnut and regular-sized drip coffee to educators who show up for takeout or drive-thru shops between Monday, August 10 and Friday, August 14. All teachers and other people forced to work for/at a school have to do is show a school ID.

On top of that, August 11 is “Straight A Tuesday,” which means anyone can buy a dozen doughnuts and get another “Straight A Dozen” for free as a gift to educators. That includes three “Straight A Doughnuts,” which are filled with Kreme, dipped in chocolate icing, covered in sprinkles, and decorated with an “A+.”

And since teachers and school districts are going to need to raise even more money to (literally) survive this year, Krispy Kreme says it’s also stepping up in this regard. Through August 31, they’re setting up contactless fundraising through Digital Dozens online gift certificates that can be redeemed in-store, with money going to schools and other organizations looking for some extra dough.

Should in-person learning be happening at a time when certain states are still seeing a massive number of Covid-19 cases? Probably not! Do free doughnuts for one week in August (before certain places have even gone back to school) make things a little bit better? Marginally! I guess in this broken world, that’s all anyone can really ask for.
