McDonald’s menu is about to get a lot sweeter.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts will soon be offered at McDonald’s restaurants around the country. Delivered fresh every morning, the treats will be offered throughout the day, with three of the dessert chain’s most popular flavors available to buy solo or by the half dozen.

Original glazed, chocolate iced with sprinkles, and a plush cream-filled doughnut iced with chocolate will be on the menu, along with McDonald’s signature desserts, like soft serve ice cream. What a pairing!

Before you get too excited, know that if you’re not in Kentucky, you may have to wait to order a Krispy Kreme alongside your McCafe coffee. Following a menu test offering Krispy Kreme doughnuts at 160 McDonald’s restaurants in Lexington and Louisville, McDonald’s is using a phased rollout to offer fresh Krispy Kremes across the nation by 2026.

While Krispy Kreme fans know to look for the “hot now” sign in the doughnut shop’s windows, indicating fresh doughnuts are coming right off the line, McDonald’s version of Krispy Kremes won’t be warm. They will, however, be delivered fresh daily from an off-site kitchen cranking out doughnuts.

In order to keep up with the demand of this two-year rollout, Krispy Kreme is scaling its supply chain, equipment, and staffing to support America’s doughnut cravings.

“The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘please bring Krispy Kreme to my town.’ Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme,” said Krispy Kreme president and CEO Josh Charlesworth in a statement.

The move seems solid for business, at least, according to investors. Following Tuesday’s partnership announcement, Krispy Kreme’s shares (DNUT.O) surged 39% in the stock market, increasing to $17.35 per share by the time the market closed, up by $4.90 from the previous day’s value of $12.45.

To balance that sweet treat, a spicy favorite is returning to McDonald’s menu, even faster than Krispy Kreme may hit your local McD’s.

The beloved Spicy Chicken McNuggets are now back at participating McDonald’s nationwide, for a limited time. The tongue tingling nugg debuted in summer 2020, when we all needed a little bit of pep in our step. Since, the spicy rendition of classic McNuggets coated in chili and aged cayenne pepper has gone on and off the menu seasonally, offered in 6, 10, 20, or 40-piece boxes. Order them while you can, because the limited-edition nature of the special nugget means it can disappear from the McDonald’s menu at any time.

Want something to look forward to? Plan to stock up on spicy McNuggets on Fridays, while Free Fries Friday is still available. Anyone ordering with the app is offered a free order of medium fries with a $1 minimum purchase. With McDonald’s menu prices on the rise, this is a deal worth taking advantage of.
