From Delish

For the first time in over a decade, Krispy Kreme has changed the model of one of its stores. The redesign took place in Concord, NC, not too far from where the donut empire got its start. Tomorrow, the Concord grand opening will feature an "enhanced donut theater experience, offering an end-to-end view of the doughnut making process." It'll also debut three new menu items: milkshakes, ice cream "scoop" sandwiches, and custom donuts. That's right, Krispy Kreme is getting into the ice cream game people! In fact, both the milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches will feature what they're calling "donut-infused ice cream," which is inspired by their Original Glazed Doughnut. And while we're not exactly sure what that all means, it sounds pretty damn delicious.

Krispy Kreme has noted that their new milkshakes are also hand-spun, topped with whipped cream and a mini-Original Glazed Doughnut. But it doesn't stop there. These bad boys come in five flavors: Vanilla Glazed, Double Chocolate, Salty Caramel, Classic Strawberry, and Oreo Cookies & Kreme. Gawd. If that isn't a winning line up, I don't know what is.

The brand's take on a classic ice cream sandwich primarily consists of an original donut sliced sideways and stuffed with donut-infused ice cream. And as fabulous as that is, things get really interesting when it comes to toppings and drizzles. Featuring six combinations—Vanilla Sprinkled, Triple Chocolate, Cookies & Kreme™, Vanilla Chip, Chocolatey Caramel Coconut, and Vanilla Fruity Crunch—there's bound to be a scoop-wich that'll satisfy everyone.

Lastly, we need to talk about these custom donuts, which apparently can be bought in packs of three or half a dozen. Krispy Kreme has reported that the shop's customizing station will feature five glazes, ten toppings and five drizzle flavors. Our only question here: Is there a limit to how many glazes, toppings, and drizzles we can put on our donuts or can we just completely go wild?

If you happen to be in the greater Charlotte area, head down to Concord Mills for the opening. And if you don't live anywhere near Concord (or anywhere in or near the state of North Carolina), just hold on to your seats because the donut empire has confirmed plans to open up forty-five other new shops across the country next year. Plus, they'll be working hard to expand their online business to include "online ordering, delivery, in-shop self-service pickup, dedicated parking for mobile order pickup, and an expanded drive-thru with two lanes and digital order confirmation." All in all, Krispy Kreme is making money moves and we're down for the cause.
