Kris Jenner Officiates Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's Surprise Vow Renewal

Ellen DeGeneres got the surprise of a lifetime at wife Portia de Rossi’s birthday party.

A new video shared to social media captures the adorable moment when Portia sneaks up behind Ellen while Brandi Carlile is singing at the celebration.

Ellen was shocked to see her wife donning a Zac Posen wedding dress—the same one she wore for their original nuptials on August 16, 2008.

The loving couple then renewed their vows in front of a room filled with their closest friends and loved ones.

Kris Jenner was even on hand to officiate.

“Portia surprised me at her birthday party by renewing our vows. Thank you @KrisJenner for officiating and @BrandiCarlile for performing, and Portia for being the greatest gift to me, even on your birthday,” Ellen captioned the video on her Instagram page.

Kris commented, “Best day ever!!! what an honor to be there for two of my BFF’s who I adore and who love each other so much! ❤️😍🙏🥰” while John Legend left a series of heart emojis.

In the clip, the Kardashian matriarch can be heard welcoming everyone to Portia’s birthday party and “to the newest home of one of my favorite couples, two of my BFs and the record holders for the most homes every purchased in one city.”

She noted that “these two were born for each other” and called them “couple goals” and a “match made in heaven.”

Portia then explained her vision behind the surprise to her wife, who was likely still trying to process it all.

“You don’t have to say anything at all, but when I was thinking about what would make my birthday really special, it was reminding you that you’re the most important thing in the world to me, in front of family and friends,” she began, adding that it all kept “leading back to you.”

She continued: “And I thought what greater accomplishment could I ever ever have in my life than being loved by someone who is so magnificent, by someone as incredible as you.”

Portia then poked fun at all their previous homes—“24 houses in 18 years,” to be clear—while adding, “this is it, we’re settling down finally and we’re planting roots and taking care of each other more than ever before.”

Ellen felt the love, noting she was the “lucky one” and adding “I would not be on this earth without you.”
