Kris Jenner, Jennifer Garner, Rooney Mara, and More Attend The Art of Elysium’s Heaven
Every year, the weekend of the Golden Globes sees its fair share of red carpets and award presentations, but one that stands out among the rest is the event where attendees get to go to Heaven. The Art of Elysium is a Los Angeles–based organization which, for over 20 years, has paired volunteer artists with communities in Los Angeles to support individuals in the midst of difficult emotional life challenges. The Art of Elysium chooses a visionary to create their version of “heaven on earth” in the form of its annual gala, which raises money for the organization. At this year’s annual fete last weekend, chosen visionary, Michael Muller, brought guests under the sea, with a heaven that he describes as being based around the idea of connection.
Inside Muller’s heaven, cochaired by Evangelo Bousis, Rooney Mara, and Joaquin Phoenix, guests walked downstairs and into the depths of the ocean, while the likes of Kris Jenner, Jennifer Garner, and Dita Von Teese mingled about the blue-glowing space. Once seated for dinner, the organization’s founder, Jennifer Howell, welcomed guests and introduced Muller, who spoke about his version of heaven, and emphasized the importance of connection and how volunteering with the organization had expanded his horizons. An art auction is available on the organization’s website so those not at the gala can help fundraise for the organization's work year-round..
After a runway presentation of the latest collection for Dundas, guests dined on a family-style dinner by chef Shirley Chung. Howell took the stage once again to introduce the year’s recipient of the Spirit of Elysium Award: Beau Dunn, who, for the past few years, devoted herself to the work of The Art of Elysium’s cause. After an evening of performances by Phantogram, Chuck D, and Linda Perry, a line of Cadillacs could be seen outside awaiting the buzzing crowd, bringing the spirit of The Art of Elysium into the streets of Los Angeles.
