KPot brings Korean BBQ flavors to Valley View in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A new restaurant in Roanoke is serving up Korean Barbecue, with a twist.

KPot takes on a unique all-you-can-eat, social, and interactive dining experience while merging traditional Asian and Korean flavors.

Guests can choose from over 50 meats, seafood, vegetables, tofu, and noodles while exploring their cooking techniques and favorite ingredients.

“There’s nothing like this here in Roanoke. And we have surrounding colleges. And the concept of KPOT would be having everyone come together, cook together, and have many conversations,” said Melanie Thammavong, the General Manager.

The history of BBQ is deeply rooted in the Korean culinary traditions. Korean BBQ consists of grilling meat over open flames.

On the other hand, “Hot Pot” dives into the Asian culinary traditions. It is known for its communal dining experience where friends and family gather around a simmering pot of broth while cooking and sharing a spread of meats, seafood, vegetables, and noodles.

To give you the best of both worlds, Kpot gives food lovers the option to pick one or choose both.

The new restaurant sits on Valley View Blvd, right outside the mall. The location joins one of many KPots across the region.

“Everyone gets the chance to cook together, adults, kids and it’s definitely good to try different cultures that way everyone gets the chance to experience different foods and what Korean BBQ is like within itself,” added Thammavong.

KPot is open Sunday through Thursday from noon to 10:30 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday, from noon to 11:30 p.m.
