In interior design, dark colors tend to shrink spaces visually, creating a cozier ambiance. The inclusion of Hollywood lights around the mirror provides a significant light source that not only illuminates but adds a touch of glamour reminiscent of old Hollywood dressing rooms.'

Jennifer Ebert, color expert and Digital Editor at Homes & Gardens, adds, 'Black can be a tricky color to pull off in a large surface area, like on a wall, because it is so bold. However, in Kourtney's room, the bright lights, and lighter accents highlight the beauty of this shade. The black walls make Kourtney's bathroom appear dramatic and luxurious.'

As for the pink sink and pink marble countertops, designer Nicholas Kaiko says, 'The juxtaposition of dark black walls with pops of pink is striking and unexpected. Pink, being inherently soft and feminine, contrasts with the deep, moody black, breaking its dominance and adding visual interest. The pink onyx vase and whimsical feathers further tie in the theme, adding layers of depth and texture. These elements introduce a playful and luxurious touch, preventing the room from feeling overly sombre.'

Finally, bright pops from the gold hardware on the sink and the white trim around the door complete Kourtney Kardashian's complementary color scheme. Nicholas Kaiko states: 'Gold hardware, especially in a maximalist space, embodies opulence and luxury. In a dark bathroom, it acts as a highlight, catching the eye and creating focal points. The gold mirror frame and faucet, against the black backdrop, are accentuated even further, becoming standout features. The choice of gold in a bathroom dominated by blacks and pinks reinforces a lavish feel, adding to the maximalist aesthetic. It essentially acts as jewelry for the room.'

He continues, 'Lastly, the vivid white architrave around the door creates a defined boundary and offers a crisp break in the design. It delineates the space and ensures that the dark walls don't overwhelm.'
