The Kominsky Method's Third Season Will Be Its Last

From Town & Country

It took the better part of a year following the debut of The Kominsky Method's second season, but fans have finally learned the fate of their beloved Netflix series—and it's bittersweet. Here's what we know so far about the show's third season.

Netflix renewed the show for a third and final season.

The Kominsky Method's second season premiered in October 2019, but fans had to wait until the following July to hear the series would indeed return—and when they did, they also learned that it was coming to an end.

"The Kominsky Method has been a true passion project for me and it’s been an incredible experience to see the warm response from both audiences and critics," the show's creator, Chuck Lorre, said in a statement upon its renewal. "I’m excited to wrap up the story with this final chapter."

Michael Douglas must be happy—he had his finger crossed for renewal.

Douglas, who plays the show's titular Kominsky, mentioned to Entertainment Weekly last year that he was already thinking about season three plot lines. "I’ve got my fingers crossed that if we do a third season that Kathleen [Turner, The Kominsky Method's Ruth] will be more [involved]," Douglas said. "I’m just savoring the fact that I see an opportunity for us to have a lot of fun with that relationship."

He also told Collider later in 2019 that he was in talks for season three. "We're having conversations. There's a lot of moving parts," the actor said. "I love it, I'm enjoying the show, and it's great, I hope all the moving parts line up together."

The second season has received critical recognition—so there's an opportunity for a hat trick with season three.

The Kominsky Method's debut run took home a slew of accolades—including, in quite an upset, the 2019 Golden Globe for Best Television Show (Musical or Comedy). So far, its second season has earned nominations for the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Emmys.
