KOIN joins SOLVE for Earth Day Spring Clean Up

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Earth Day is officially Monday, April 22, but KOIN 6 is partnering with SOLVE to keep Oregon green and clean all week.

The annual SOLVE Spring Clean Up runs through April 22, with most of the events on Saturday, April 20. There are opportunities to pick up litter, pull invasive species and plant natives all across the state, from Portland to Brookings.

The KOIN 6 Team is partnered with PGE to clean up the Buckman neighborhood on Saturday.

“Volunteerism and taking care of this wonderful state is also a way to connect us as human beings to do the things that we care about and that are driven by our values as Oregonians,” said Kregg Arntson, the Director of Community Impact for PGE.

SOLVE clean ups are family-friendly and everything you’ll need is provided.

“Across the state we’ll have about 100 events, and it’s just a good way to give back and join their local community on Earth Day or in honor of Earth Day. So we’re really encouraging all families to come out, do their part, and take care of this beautiful state that we all love,” said SOLVE CEO Kris Carico.

And if you don’t have a lot of time, that’s not an issue either.

“We make all of our events very easy so you can just drop in drop out give us 15 minutes, give us 2 hours, whatever time you have. Every bit counts. It takes all of us to keep our state clean and healthy,” she said.
