Koa Smith Teases New Edit ‘The Source’

Koa Smith just dropped a trailer for his latest movie, entitled ‘The Source.’ The upcoming feature will center around Smith’s trip to South Africa on a sort of journey of spiritual self-discovery.

“In today’s world, many of us struggle to be truly present in our lives, while being distracted by social media and technology.” narrates Smith at the top of the minute and a half-long teaser. “The pressure to capture every moment for views and status starts to overshadow the things that make us feel most alive. For me, it’s threatening my passion for surfing and my deep connection with ‘the source.'”

The answer to this dilemma, of course, was to go on a surf trip and film an edit. The venue for this  venture was South Africa, a place that Smith says made him feel closest to ‘the source,’ which he defines as a “powerful energy field that makes you feel so alive. A pure sense of peace and happiness from simply being in the present moment, being one with the world. Not in your head, not on your phone, but here, now.”

The preview Smith just dropped on his YouTube channel gives us a glimpse of what seems like some pretty spectacular footage from the expedition. Clips of his signature tube-hunting are interspersed with scenic vistas, animal encounters, off-roading, and the sort of joyful camaraderie that can be as rewarding a part of a surf trip as the surf itself.

The full movie launches on April 16, on Smith’s YouTube channel.
