Koa Smith Gets Super Barreled and Connects with 'The Source' While Surfing South Africa

Koa Smith has had a wild ride, both literally and figuratively.

In 2014, the Kauai surfer got a mind-blowing 27-second barrel surfing Skeleton Bay in Namibia.

Since then, Smith's gotten a helluva lot more perfect barrels around the world, including during another recent visit to Skeleton Bay last summer. He's also gained a new lease on life since suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2018.

A few days ago, Smith announced the release of his first movie called "The Source" in the post above. He captioned it:

"My first Movie “The Source” is now streaming on RedbullTV!! It’s always a bit scary putting yourself out there and doing something different.

"This is the story that came through and I think it’s more relevant than ever! It’s about tapping into something deeper! A connection that’s within all of us! Drop a ❤️‍🔥 if you’ve seen it! Excited to hear how @you like it."

The film is based on Smith's return to South Africa to "find something deeper."

He says it's a place he feels "most connected with the source."

In the trailer, Smith explains what that is:

“The source is that powerful energy field that makes you feel so alive. That pure sense of peace and happiness from simply being in the present moment. Being one with the world. Not in your head. Not on your phone. But here and now.”

On its website, RedBull describes the film:

"Pro surfer Koa Smith's South African adventure leads to profound discoveries of connection, nature, and introspection, offering a transformative journey that showcases the power of simplicity."

The Source is streaming here on RedBull TV.
