Steve Martin may have plans to slow down on his acting career, but as far as we're concerned, he will always be one of the funniest (and most talented) people in Hollywood.

As of late, he's been keeping busy. Earlier in the year, he wrapped up a comedy tour with Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short, You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today, which took them around the country. Martin also recently completed a six-week music tour through Canada and Europe. (He plays the banjo and has won five Grammys.)

And, of course, he's winning fans over as the optimistic Charles-Haden Savage on OMITB. The role even earned him a 2024 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. But once the series is over, the actor intends to prioritize his family, including his wife, Anne Stringfield. In 2022, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I have a family life that’s really fun. To film a movie now, to go someplace else to live, I’m not willing to do that anymore. I can’t disappear for three months.”

So, it sounds like the Texas native will have plenty of quality time with his loved ones. This brings us to our biggest question: Who is Steve Martin's wife? With all the buzz for the Golden Globes, we figured now's better than ever to dive in. Here's what we know.

1. Who Is Steve Martin’s Wife?

The Only Murders star is married to journalist and fact checker Anne Stringfield. The writer, who hails from Pensacola, Florida, worked as a fact-checker for The New Yorker and has also written for Vogue. She previously attended Davidson College, where she earned her bachelor's degree.

2. Yes, She Does Look Like Tina Fey

Tina Fey famously needled Martin in her tribute speech to him at the latter's American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony in 2015. "You have helped me so many times and in so many ways...marrying a woman who is a younger, thinner, smarter version of me just to keep me hustling," Fey said to riotous laughs.

3. How Did Martin and Stringfield Meet?

In his interview with AARP, Martin revealed that he met his wife when she was assigned to fact check one of his comedy pieces. He said, "We talked on the phone for a year before we even met."

This was reportedly in the mid-2000s, and the outlet noted that, like Martin, she was introverted and "deeply shy." According to Martin, Stringfield has never walked a red carpet.

4. When Did They Tie the Knot?

Stringfield is Martin's second wife. He was previously married to the British actress Victoria Tennant, known for her roles in The Winds of War and Rememberance.

After dating for about three years, Martin and Stringfield had a surprise wedding at their L.A. home in July 2007. Per Martin's publicist, Alan Nierob, the attendees were told that it was a party, but they got quite the surprise when they realized it was a wedding.

The intimate ceremony was officiated by former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, and it included about 75 guests. Tom Hanks, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton are just a few celebrities who showed up for the occasion.

5. Yes, They Have a Daughter

We've seen him play the patriarch in classics like Father of the Bride, Parenthood and Cheaper by the Dozen. But in real life, the actor and comedian finally became a parent in 2012 when he and Stringfield welcomed their daughter.

While speaking with AARP, he revealed that having a child later in life (at 67, to be exact) was "fantastic." Martin said, "I think if I'd had a child earlier, I would have been a lousy father because I would have misplaced my attention on my career."

He continued, "I am very forthcoming with her, and it's great. She's giving me way more than I'm giving her."

Sounds like his daughter is one lucky girl.
