What to Know About Jennifer Lawrence and Fiancé Cooke Maroney’s Glamorous NYC Engagement Party

Jennifer Lawrence knows how to do low-key glamour quite well, and the actress exhibited it flawlessly on Sunday night for her engagement party in NYC. The Mother! star, who got engaged to art gallerist Cooke Maroney this past February, stepped out in a stunning peach-colored L. Wells Bridal dress called the Juliana, which boasts a plunging neckline, high-cut slit, and full-length sleeves.

“Congrats to the soon to be Mrs. 💕💍 Perfect JL looking like a dream in the Juliana dress💕,” the L. Wells Bridal account captioned a photo of Lawrence, 28, with a big smile as she strode through a fairy light-lit courtyard.

Lawrence completed her look with a matching peach-hued Roger Vivier purse, earrings from Fred Leighton Jewels, and Casadei shoes. She swept her hair up in a loose bun for a bit of understated elegance.

Maroney, meanwhile, wore a blue suit, gray tie, and brown leather shoes for the occasion. A source told People that the couple celebrated their recent engagement with a dinner with their family and friends.

The pair have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight, much to Lawrence’s delight. According to a friend, Maroney’s relaxed demeanor and lack of Hollywood ego is what makes their relationship great in the first place.

“He’s a great guy,” the source told People. “He’s smart and funny and I think really keeps her on her toes and he doesn’t treat her like a celebrity like the other boyfriends did. He’s definitely the coolest guy she’s dated. [He’s] not affected by Hollywood.”

Lawrence and Maroney were first introduced through a mutual friend in spring 2018, and began dating last June. They jetted off to Paris and Rome on a romantic vacation in August, and kicked off the next chapter of their lives together with the proposal in February.

Lawrence was previously linked to Mother! director Darren Aronofsky, but the pair split in late 2017. Prior to him, she also dated Chris Martin and Nicholas Hoult.
